Well, it’s been a crazy few months for gaming, and to cap off the great year of games that was 2011, here’s the unboxing for Assassin’s Creed Revelations Animus Edition.
The Animus Edition includes:
- In-depth encyclopedia, with comprehensive entries on the major characters, events and other important aspects of the Assassin’s Creed universe
- Assassin’s Creed Embers, an animated short movie
- Assassin’s Creed Revelations Soundtrack
And you get some in-game DLC content:
- Explore the prison of legendary Vlad the Impaler, the scourge of Constantinople who inspired the myth of Dracula. Seek out the hanging cell of the infamous leader to retrieve his personal blade, a deadly close quarters dagger capable of dispatching any foe.
- Capacity upgrades for your hidden gun bullets, bombs & crossbow arrows to give you a decisive advantage in battle.
- Play as two additional multiplayer characters: The Crusader & a character from Assassin?s Creed Brotherhood revamped with a Constantinople flavour: the Ottoman Jester
- The Armour of Brutus from Assassin?s Creed Brotherhood
Unboxing after the jump.
When I picked up my copy, I first thought mine was damaged or something due to the weird shape of the box. Upon closer inspection, it seems that this was actually intended.
The Game
What appears to be the standard game actually isn’t. Note the “Not for resale” sign on the back of the case. It’s actually a double disc case which has holds the soundtrack, game as well as the DLC codes.
Embers
The animated short, “Embers” comes in it’s own little cardboard sleeve.
Assassin’s Creed Encyclopedia
The hardcover Encyclopedia could probably be considered the main selling point of this edition, and is by far the most impressive item. At 255 pages, it’s quite heavy and contains a wealth of information on the lore of Assassin’s Creed.
Final Thoughts
One of the less gimmicky Collector’s Editions of late, the Animus Edition doesn’t include any figurines, statues, or trinkets, but just the standard artbook (encyclopedia) and soundtrack for a relatively reasonable price. What’s most impressive though, is how well the encyclopedia is done. This tome contains pretty much everything you know (and didn’t) about the Assassin’s Creed universe, and is a must-have for any fan of the series.
